"En árboles de nogal pecanero (Canta illinoensis) de 10 años de edad, deficientes de zinc plantados en suelos de textura de migajón arcillosa limoso, con un pH de 8.0 y un contenido de CaCO3 de 3.12%. Se estudió el efecto de la época de aspersión foliar de zinc, la aplicación de dosis con concentraciones en estos suelos con deficiencias del elemento sobre su condición nutrimental. Para las aspersiones de zinc al follaje se tuvieron cinco tratamientos, cuatro con concentración de 0.17, 0.25, 0.34 y 0.42% de zinc más un testigo, sin concentración de este elemento en tres épocas diferentes de otoño de 1997 y el siguiente ciclo 1998, durante la estación de crecimiento, donde los niveles de zinc en este ciclo fueron estadísticamente iguales pero con tendencias de concentración arriba del mínimo para las tres épocas. En las tres fechas con aplicación en otoño a inicios, mediados y finales, se hace mención de que la mejor fecha para incrementar zinc al árbol para que sea aprovechado para el siguiente ciclo de desarrollo del mismo para que cubra su necesidad es la fecha de inicios de otoño. Esto nos indica que con dos aplicaciones en otoño sería suficiente, ya que en la estación de crecimiento del ciclo 1998, hubo diferencias significativas, sólo con el testigo en cada una de estas tres fechas, pero con una buena concentración de zinc- en el follaje arriba del mínimo ya que la fecha de inicios indicó la mejor respuesta con una media de 247.862 mg/kg, y una mejor estabilidad ya que las otras dos fechas de octubre y noviembre tuvieron valores menores pero estadísticamente iguales. Las aspersiones de zinc en otoño dan un incremento en la concentración, en la fase de crecimiento e inicio de floración. En estos árboles con estas aspersiones de zinc al follaje, los niveles de correlación entre nutrientes nos indican que hay interacción entre ellos, ocurriendo esto en nogal, como en la mayoría de los cultivos."
