En el municipio de Chilchotla, Puebla, el árbol de aguacate nativo (Persea americana Mill) es un componente importante en el sistema de producción agrícola y de traspatio, por lo tanto en este trabajo se planteó como objetivo conocer su diversidad local y su relación de uso dentro de la población del municipio. Los productores describieron la diversidad local con el nombre de tipo detallando 6 conocidos con los nombres de de aguacate con los nombres de “negro”, “verde”, “xaco”, “rojo”, “cimarron” y “tunalero”, se encontró también la presencia de aguacate variedad “Hass”, ya que fue introducido. Una vez descritos los tipos identificados por los productores se colectaron estructuras vegetativas y frutos, que sirvieron como muestras para medir las características morfológicas que nos sirven para identificar la diversidad del municipio de Chilchotla. De la diversidad local encontrada se asociaron diez usos principales que de alguna manera han contribuido a la conservación y el sostén de esta sociedad. _______________ LOCAL USES AND DIVERSITY OF AVOCADO (Persea americana Mill.) IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF CHILCHOTLA, PUEBLA. ABSTRACT: In the municipality of Chilchotla, Puebla, the native avocado tree (Persea americana Mill.) is an important component in the agricultural production system in rural areas. In this thesis one of the objectives was to learn the local diversity and its relationship of use within the population of the county. The peasants described the local avocado diversity with six detailed name types: “black”, “green”, “xaco”, “red”, “cimarron”, and “tunalero”, the presence of avocado “hass” was also found, which has already been introduced. Once described the types identified by the peasants structured vegetative and fruits were collected, that served as samples to measure the morphological characteristic in order to identify the avocado diversity in the municipality of Chilchotla. Ten uses were associated with the local avocado diversity, and they have contributed in some way to conservation and to the support of the local society.
