"Agronomic evaluation of triticale (T) and two feeding periods of crossbreed goats; (Criollo X dairy breeds) in: 1) growing (G) and 2) early lactation (L), these with more than two kiddings, using Triticale (T), annual rye grass (ARG) and their mixture (M) were done. The objectives of this study were: to determine the behavior of green forage (GF) and dry matter (DM) yields of these species; to observe the effect of relay of ARG by T and to determine the productive behavior of young growing goats and mature goats in early lactation fed with hay of T, ARG and M. Total GF and DM yields were: 32.380 and 8.112; 27.764 and 6.781 and 30.472 and 6.759 ton/ha, for ARG, M and T, respectively, and there were not significant differences (P50.05). Crude protein (CP), fiber acid detergent (FAD) and fiber neutral detergent (FND) were similar (P50.05) in ARG, M and T. CP contents for green and hayed ARG were 20.32 and 15.38 per cent, respectively; 21.12 and 14.83 per cent in green and hayed M, respectively, and 19.55 and 14.46 per cent in green and hayed T, respectively. FAD contents were 24.68 and 31.77; 25.72 and 34.65 and 25.34 and 36.70 per cent in fresh and hayed ARG, M and T, respectively. FND contents were 42.52 and 47.60; 43.83 and 52.08 and 43.79 and 51.50 per cent in fresh and hayed ARG, M and T, respectively. ARG relayed partially T passing from 11.21 per cent at 43 days postseeding to 42 per cent at 182 days postseeding. Milk production of L, in the first period of feeding, was not significant (P50.05) and the values were: 0.671 1/d in ARG; 0.719 l/d in M and 0.602 1/d in T. In the second period of feeding, milk production for M and T was: 0.607 1/d and 0.567 l/d, respectively and there was not significance (P50.05). Average daily gain (ADG) was higher in ARG than M or T (0.1562 vs. 0.1234 and 0.1223, respectively, P50.05). ADG in L was higher than in G (0.0718 vs. 0.0577 kg/d, P50.05)."
