"One of the main limitations in seedling production is the disease caused by “damping off”, which is associated with the phytopathogens Pythium and Fusarium, among others, which causes losses of 10 to 100%. For its control in recent years, antagonistic microorganisms have been used, in which some bacteria of the genus Bacillus, Pseudomonas, Streptomyces and fungi of the genus Trichoderma are mentioned. It was proposed to identify the main agents that cause “damping off” in chili seedlings, to evaluate the in vitro antagonism of Trichoderma, Pseudomonas and Bacillus to phytopathogen species and to determine their efficacy in chili seedlings under controlled greenhouse conditions. Pythium aphanidermatum and Fusarium oxysporum were identified as causative agents of the disease. In vitro tests showed that the Bacillus strains inhibited the growth of F. oxysporum highlighting Bacillus subtilis (BITV) with an inhibition of 56.24%, however, these did not had an effect againts P. aphanidermatum, only the strain of Pseudomonas donghuensis (B?) was able to influence 56.00% the mycelial growth of the oomycete, but not that of F. oxysporum, for its part, the strain of Trichoderma harzianum (THZ) inhibited the growth of both phytopathogens, being at level 1 an 2 of the proposed by Bell et al., (1982). It was shown that the application of antagonistic microorganisms in the production of chili seedlings in the greenhouse, obtained the lowest incidences with respect to the control treatments, being, the one that presented the lowest incidence (19.17% and 14.44%) in pre-emergency and post-emergency, in addition to the fact that these present the lowest mortality after transplantation (0%), so they are a viable alternative for the control of “damping off”
