"The high demand in the consumption of habanero chili in the domestic and international markets has created the needing to seek production alternatives in other areas of Mexico taking into account limiting factors such as temperature and water shortages. The research was conducted in the field, in the spring-summer 2015. The objective was to evaluate the influence of planting date on growth and crop yield of habanero chile (Capsicum chinense Jacq.) Orange cultivar. An experimental design of completely randomized blocks with four replications was used, with a total of 12 plots and 240 plants per experimental unit. To optimize the use of water, a drip irrigation system was used. The evaluated variables were plant height, stem diameter, number of fruits per plant, fruit quality and yield (t ha-1). The thermal time required expressed as Accumulated Heat Units was calculated for each planting date and phenological phase after transplantation, using the double sine method with software designed by the University of California. The vegetative development of the crop was not affected by planting date, however, the best yield was when the sowing date 31th January and trasplanting 4th of May."
