The industrial sludge represent a serious air pollution problem, for that reason, the determine the feasibility of taking advantage of these waste to give it a use agricultural and environmental is of vital importance, that is why this research aims to determine the effect of the textile raw sludge applied to the substrate for growth of tomato and lettuce on its quality, productivity and chemical composition. Sludge were characterized with the NOM-004-SEMARNAT-2002 and NOM-021-RECNAT-2000. Was used for the tomato variety Rio Grande and lettuce of the variety Great lakes, which were transplanted to pots of 14 liters with substrate of peat moss and perlite (70:30 volume) in where it blended the mud textile in concentrations of 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 %. Nutrition was carried out by applying a solution Steiner. In tomato fruit production was not changed, the minerals, such as Na, Zn and Fe increase, while for N, P, Ca, Mg and Cu showed no significant changes, the Ph of the fruit was not changed, while the total soluble solids increased. In the case of lettuce its biomass was not affected, the minerals, such as N, P. K. Ca, Na, Cu, Zn, Mn and Fe increased, as well as the concentration of vitamin C and the total antioxidant capacity. Not found transfer of heavy metals by part of the sludge to none of the two crops, on the other hand if detected transfer of helminth eggs in value greater than allowed by the rule in the tomato fruits of plants treated with the highest concentration of sludge. As well as transfer of fecal coliforms andhelminth eggs to lettuce plants with values below the established by the rules of health.
