Si bien el diseño sustentable debe ser entendido de manera mucho más amplia. En este trabajo se ejemplifica como el ACV es una herramienta.

Las diversas caras de la obsolescencia

Hablar acerca de la obsolescencia de los objetos de diseño y el impacto que esta tiene sobre la economía y el medio ambiente, es un tema que ha sido tratado de manera constante por diversos especialistas, debido a la importancia que tiene. No obstante, se aborda a la obsolescencia desde una sola perspectiva, cuando en realidad el término es más complejo de lo que supone a simple vista. Se asume en este artículo que no posee una definición única. Un análisis más acucioso del término permite identificar que existen diferentes tipos de obsolescencia tales como, la natural, programada, percibida, planificada o incluso por decreto. Este escrito propone definiciones claras para cada uno de los diferentes niveles del término, acompañados de ejemplos sobre las diferencias existentes entre cada uno de ellos. Se concluye sobre la importancia que guarda con el diseño industrial desde la óptica del desarrollo sustentable.

The role of service life planning in construction industry; an exploratory review

The aim is to present a review of the scientific literature as regards service life planning and durability in buildings, infrastructure and their parts. The review focused on studies and works related to two main categories: the first related to the basic information on service life planning for buildings, the second, related to case studies and applications of service life planning in buildings. Results reveal that as regards theory and basic information on service life the studies mainly focus on studies on specific methods and models on service life planning in buildings and their components, as for applications and case studies, these largely focus on life cycle assessments to ascertain durability and environmental impacts for various materials and constructive components. It is concluded that the estimation of a building’s service life not only comes in handy to plan its durability, but also because it is very useful when studies on Life-cycle assessment on buildings and their components are needed.

Introducción. La Diabetes Tipo 2 (DT2) es un tema de alerta a nivel mundial, la prevalencia crece rápidamente por múltiples determinantes en el tiempo, como el envejecimiento, los cambios demográficos y los cambios asociados a los estilos de vida. Materiales y métodos. Cuantitativo, correlacional y aplicado. Diseño Transversal y clínico. Muestreo por conveniencia de 42 pacientes. Resultados. El género femenino predominó con el 83.3%, la edad promedio fue de 56 años. El gasto calórico en actividad física fue de 9,867.62 METs semanales, de las mediciones antropométricas, el peso promedio fue de 69.73 kg, índice de Masa corporal (IMC) de 27.37, lo que ubica a las población en sobrepeso. Los triglicéridos con una media de 159.38 mg/dL, el Colesterol total tuvo una media de 163.93 mg/dL con bajo riesgo y la glucosa de 96.33 mg/dL. La proteína SFRP5 se asoció negativamente con la ingesta de kilo calorías (r=-.305, p=0.05). El TNF-alpha se asoció positivamente con la medición del pliegue cutáneo tricipital (r.387, p<0.02). Discusiones-conclusiones. En el estudio se reclutaron más mujeres (83.3%), esto responde a la prevalencia mayor en mujeres según las estimaciones de la Federación Internacional de Diabetes (ADA) y La Encuesta Nacional de Salud (2016), las cuales estipulan mayor incidencia de Diabetes entre la población femenina (10.3%) que la masculina (8.4%).

The study recruited more women (83.3%), this responds to the higher prevalence in women estimated by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and The National Health Survey (2016), which stipulate a higher incidence of Diabetes among the female population (10.3%) than the male population (8.4%).

Early life exposure and its association with diseases in adulthood: review of longitudinal studies

Background: We describe the evidence of the effects of early life exposures on health and aging during adulthood.

Methods: A narrative review of cohorts and systematic reviews of studies initiated early in life and followed up to adulthood was conducted.

Results: Most studies were carried out in developed countries. The long-term effects of birth weight and, to a lesser extent, height at birth on chronic-degenerative diseases, functionality, bone, renal and respiratory pathology, and mortality have been consistent. Breastfeeding is associated with metabolic and cardiovascular diseases and functionality. Adiposity, bone pathophysiology, functionality in old age, and high blood pressure are associated with socioeconomic status at birth.

Conclusions: Several exposures from intrauterine life to adolescence that exert discrete but significant effects on adult health have been consistently described. It is necessary to carry out these studies in developing countries.

Implementation of multifunctional fixture for automotive painting line

To focus the effort to achieve a reduction in production costs, increase the quality of the product and have a short delivery time to the client, an investigation applied to the start-up of a production line of painting for automotive parts is presented. Under this scheme, it is necessary to produce 10,000 sets per week of 4 different models, so it is intended to make a fixture with applicable capacity for the 4 available models. To implement this improvement, it was necessary to analyze the baking capacity of the painting booths, as well as their entrances and exits, the distance that the fan has from the paint application gun was also considered, in addition to the scope of the vision camera. used within the paint line and the cycle times of each thread. Taking these preferences into account, the final design of the fixture was determined, as well as the number of fixtures to be used within the line based on simulation of line balancing.

The content of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), its mRNA, and estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) and beta (ERβ) in the hypothalamus varies throughout the estrous cycle. Furthermore, the abundance of these molecules displays asymmetry between the right and left side. In the present study, we investigated the changes in the content of ERα, ERβ, kisspeptin, and GnRH by western blot in the left and right anteromedial hypothalamus, at four different times during each stage of the rat estrous cycle. The serum levels of the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) were also measured. ERα and ERβ levels changed depending on the stage of the estrous cycle, meanwhile that of kisspeptin was modified according to both the hour of the day and the stage of the cycle. Except in estrus day, ERβ was higher in the right hypothalamus, while ERα was similar in both sides. During both proestrus and estrus, the content of kisspeptin and GnRH was higher in the right hypothalamus. The highest levels of FSH and LH occurred at 17:00 h of proestrus. But at estrus, the highest FSH levels were observed at 08:00 h and the lowest at 17:00 h. Thus, the current results show that the content of ERα, ERβ, kisspeptin, and GnRH in the anteromedial hypothalamus are regulated as a function of the stage of the estrous cycle and the hour of the day. Furthermore, the content of these proteins is regularly higher in the right anteromedial hypothalamus, regardless of the stage of the cycle or time of the day.
